Locomotion

“Locomotion” is a critical commentary on the ableist nature of the human experience. I am interested in expressing my unattainable desire for the thing I no longer possess, the ability to walk. My desire for the unattainable has fueled my obsession with walking, running and the otherwise fully functioning physiology of human locomotion. Wheels do not afford me the same sensation as working legs. “Locomotion” reflects the sensation of unattainable desire and longtime emotional longing, while altering the initial perceptions of things that are taken for granted by the majority of human beings.
