Granular Experience
"Granular Experience" is a series of twenty photograms that feature a cohesive approach to exposure, specific applications of transparent objects, and attention to detail to generate photograms that transition from diaphanous into dense and granular compositions. In "Granular Experience," I explore the refraction and distortion of light by utilizing a variety of glass vessels to layer exposures; and create granularity over time. I found it particularly interesting to slowly increase the density by overlapping exposures and fitting more objects into a single composition. When creating "Granular Experience," I discovered that by exposing and processing twenty images separately, the experience of making was increasingly exciting because I made each image without knowing how the end product would appear. This element of mystery in "Granular Experience" makes for an exciting photographic experience.
